It’s a classic crime noir novel with a sci-fi twist that follows the exploits of Elrod, a homeless man who is sleeping in an alley one night when he’s stirred awake by the sudden appearance of a neon-lit nightclub that wasn’t there a few minutes ago. He knows better than to open the door, but curiosity gets the better of him. The next thing Elrod knows, he’s caught up in deadly money scheme involving a brilliant scientist, a mysterious nightclub manager, a pair of jazz musicians, and a mobster on the lam. Elrod wants out, but everyone else has other ideas.
