In exactly one week, if all the stars align, American voters will briefly rediscover their brains and humanity during the midterm elections and vote Democrats back into power in the U.S. Congress.
If the stars are in an especially good mood, Democrats will not only regain control of the House of Representatives – which seems a near-certainty – but also the Senate, which only a few months ago seemed impossible, but now looks like at least a 50-50 proposition.
If even more stars line up, voters will deliver a mighty rebuke to the MAGA/Republican mafia and all the racist, corrupt, greedy, repressive, regressive, neo-fascist ideologies that bring them such great joy.
And if the stars attain perfect alignment, voters will send a message so loud and clear that it will even pierce the thick skull of Donald J. Trump, our putrid turd of a president, who has done more to soil the USA than the previous 20 worst presidents combined, and who stands to lose the most from a hostile Congress.
Should all this come true, it is my sincere wish that the new Congress will waste no time bringing Trump and his immoral sycophants to justice. That it will hold them to account. Twist the long arm of the law around their necks until they choke. Grill them and sweat them and break them under the harsh lights of the Capitol Building, for all the world to see.
Make them pay for their sins. Turn them into shining examples of all the bad things that are supposed to happen to bad people.
And make no mistake: These are bad people. Truly bad people. The worst of the worst.
I don’t just want Dems to regain power. I want them to wield that power like a sledgehammer and swing it so mightily that it flattens the heads of Trump and his lackeys, from the squirmiest congressman in the remotest district to the richest person in the history of the world (yes, I’m talking about your MAGA-loving Nazi ass, Elon Musk).
The first Democrat who goes blathering on and on about the need to heal instead of punish should immediately be stripped of any important positions and given a dank office in the Capitol basement, right by the sewage pipes.
This is not a time to heal. This is a time to restore order and punish the guilty. Healing doesn’t work with the Trump/MAGA contingent. They give not one fuck about healing. The only thing they respect is power, and money, and more power.
They’ve used that power to enrich themselves while gutting government agencies to screw over everyone else. They’ve used that power to intimidate colleges and the media (and free thought in general), launch murderous anti-immigrant gestapo operations, invade a country for its oil, threaten allies, support dictators, and back a genocidal regime in Israel.
They’ve used their power to undermine the very democracy that we pretend to cherish. Even as I write this, MAGA mobsters are advocating martial law to undermine the midterm election results. Trump himself has directed the Department of “Justice” to file a lawsuit blocking any result that would keep his Republican candidate from winning the Alaska senate seat.
The election hasn’t even happened, and yet Trump keeps accusing the other side of cheating. He’s an old hand at this kind of thing. He’s been doing it since he first ran for office back in 2015, and hasn’t stopped since then.
Do you know how to spot the cheater at the table?
He’s the one who accuses everyone else of cheating.
This is Banana Republic shit. Fascism 101. Happening right here in the United States of America.
Power is the only thing these folks respect. So it’s time to send them a powerful message that their day of reckoning is nigh, and judgement awaits.
If American voters deliver the expected Blue Wave of anti-MAGA backlash everyone expects, then Democratic leaders have an obligation to turn that anger into action.
Make the bad buys pay. Go for the jugular. I want to see their tears and their fear. I am angry. I am vengeful. You’re damn right I am. And so are millions and billions more like me, the world over.
It’s time to put an end to all this, once and for all, by any means necessary.

I’ve followed American politics long enough to know that pinning your hopes on anything positive is a fool’s errand. You have about a 97% chance of being let down at some point.
I expect Democrats to win the House during the midterms, though maybe by not as much as the experts predict. I’m not nearly as convinced the Democrats can retake the Senate. To do so, they’ll have to win races in Republican strongholds like Texas, Ohio and Alaska.
I’ve been hearing for a generation about how Democrats can win statewide elections in Texas, and for a generation that’s been a false narrative. So we’ll see, we’ll see….
I find myself in a weird place ahead of the midterms. On the one hand, I’m pulling desperately hard for a Democratic sweep, a blue wave – even though I’m not a Democrat, but an unaffiliated voter with no ties to any party (and have been since I first registered to vote a millennium ago).
On the other hand, I’m trying very hard to keep my emotions and expectations in check.
This is what happens when a nation cedes power to the worst among us. If you have any decency at all, you want them to lose that power.
But you also know they didn’t rise to power by accident. Which means you have to put your faith in an electorate that pulled the lever for all the worst people – over and over and over again.
A real conundrum, no?

Donald Trump is the worst president in United States history, and it’s not even close. He’s the most corrupt president in U.S. history – again, not even close (and that’s saying a lot). He’s the dumbest president in U.S. history when you tally up all the dumb things a president could potentially do.
And here’s the rub: Dumb and dishonest people only rise to power in a dumb and dishonest country. Which maybe means every country in the history of the world, I don’t know.
If America were a smarter (and less greedy, and less racist) country, there’s no way Donald Trump would have advanced past the 2016 GOP primary races, let alone squirmed his way into two White House terms.
If America had a sane presidential election system, he never would have risen to president, because not once has he ever won a majority of the votes.
But as Dear Old Dad used to say, “If all the ifs and buts were candy and nuts we’d all have a Merry Christmas…”
The one saving grace we can take from a horrible creature like Donald Trump being president is that he’s an actual, Bonafide, Grade-A idiot. A half-wit. A moron. That’s not a subjective opinion. That’s a straight-on fact. I don’t care about how slick he comes across sometimes, or whether he has a certain snake-like charisma that can win idiots over.
The man is a dumbass. Check his social media posts sometime. A 1st grader could be more coherent.
I bet Trump couldn’t identify 15 countries on a map of the world. He might not make it past Mexico, Canada, Russia, China and Australia. I wonder if he’s read a book since he got out of college. I doubt he read a book before or during college. I’m pretty sure his rich Daddy bought his way into college and bought his degree.
Donald Trump is an incurious, anti-intellectual, narrow-minded, infantile mental black hole whose achievements are almost exclusively the result of luck, cheating, and an animal-like gift for deception.
Sadly, having a stupid president is actually a blessing in this dark era of American politics.
Imagine if Trump were smart. Imagine if he had the mental capacity, energy and commitment to study and understand the issues, and then develop policies that worked.
Imagine if he surrounded himself with smart, competent people instead of the airheaded doofuses who make up his inner circle these days.
That, my friends, is a truly horrifying prospect.
And so, the main reason Democrats are heavily favored to win the upcoming midterm elections is because Donald J. Trump is such a stupid motherfucker.

I don’t like making broad, sweeping statements, but I’ll go ahead and do it anyway:
This year’s midterm elections will be the most impactful in generations. Maybe ever. These midterms represent what could be America’s last, best chance to preserve the republic.
We saw what Trump/MAGA have attempted to do with the power they hold over all three branches of the federal government. They’ve taken dead aim at every single thing that was supposed to put us on the side of the righteous and good.
Unless we grab some of that power back, on November 3, 2026, during the midterm elections, and use it as a battering ram against the bad guys, I’m not sure the good guys will ever win again in the United States.
I’m not sure the United States as we all know it will even exist by the time the 2028 presidential elections roll around. And I’m not kidding. It will vanquish in the mist.
So, all you patriotic Americans……
Vote these bastards out.
