Since this blog mainly exists to pimp my writing career, here are a couple recent items of interest:
- My short story “The Whole Bird” was selected as a Short List Finalist in the June 2020 Bath Flash Fiction Awards. It was among the Top 20 stories selected out of 1,411 submissions from around the globe. Its selection means it will be published in the annual year-end anthology published by Ad Hoc Fiction. A couple of my other stories landed in last year’s anthology, titled With One Eye on the Cows. For any other writers out there: Always look for competitions that might land your work in a book. Looks good on the old CV – especially when you’re trying to submit work to publishers or journals that only accept published authors. Since Ad Hoc holds all publishing rights, I can’t publish the story here.
- Back in March, my short story “Friendly Fire” was selected as a Finalist in the 2019 ScreenCraft Cinematic Short Story Competition. It was among the Top 50 stories selected out of about 1,200 submissions. ScreenCraft has numerous competitions throughout the year for aspiring screenwriters. Most are for screenplays, but a couple of the contests are for prose works that might make interesting films or TV/streaming programs. I’m still trying to get the story published elsewhere, so I’ll keep you posted on that.
That is all. Thanks for tuning in.
Congratulations ☺️
